Electrical Measuring and Instrument Shop
Objective: The objective of this Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Electrical Measuring and Instrument Shop at the Dr. Engineer Mamunur Rashid Science and Technology Institute (DMRSTI), Birganj, Dinajpur. This SOP aims to provide guidelines for personnel working in the shop, including safety protocols, responsibilities, and equipment management.
Responsibilities:
- Shop Supervisor:
- Ensure that all shop personnel adhere to safety guidelines and protocols.
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of measuring and instrument equipment.
- Report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to the institute’s administration.
- Supervise the training of new personnel on equipment usage and safety procedures.
- Shop Personnel:
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols outlined in this SOP.
- Use measuring and instrument equipment only for its intended purpose.
- Report any equipment damage, defects, or safety hazards immediately to the supervisor.
- Participate in safety training programs as required.
- Administrative Staff:
- Provide necessary resources and support to ensure the shop’s smooth operation.
- Maintain records of equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Allocate funds for equipment replacement or repairs as needed.
Equipment List: The Electrical Measuring and Instrument Shop is equipped with the following instruments:
- Digital Multimeters
- Oscilloscopes
- Power Analyzers
- Signal Generators
- Clamp Meters
- Insulation Testers
- Voltage and Current Transformers
- Precision Resistors and Capacitors
- Calibration Standards
- Safety Gear (e.g., gloves, safety goggles)
Safety:
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- All personnel must wear appropriate PPE, including safety goggles and gloves, when handling equipment or conducting experiments.
- Equipment Handling:
- Handle all instruments with care and according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Ensure that equipment is turned off and unplugged when not in use.
- Avoid overloading circuits or equipment.
- Electrical Safety:
- Maintain a clear workspace and avoid clutter.
- Use circuit breakers and safety switches when working with electrical equipment.
- Do not use damaged cords or plugs.
- Emergency Procedures:
- Familiarize yourself with the location of emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and first-aid kits.
- In case of fire or other emergencies, evacuate the shop and report to the designated assembly area.
